Benchmark's 5.5-ounce flame-resistant twill is made from combed cotton ring-spun yarns, resulting in a durable and lightweight material. The fabric is flame-resistant for the life of the garment, non-allergenic, skin-safe, and will not react with sweat. When the simple care instructions are followed, the shirt will shrink less than 4-1/2% and can be home-washed or commercially laundered.

Detailed care instructions are sewn into the main label. The garment should be cleaned if soiled with contaminants or flammable material, as any material influencing flammability must be completely washed off. Home washing is the preferred method for cleaning flame-resistant garments, as it will keep the garment looking better than an industrial service. If using a commercial laundry, notify them that they are washing a flame-resistant garment and follow the instructions on the label.

The home washing instructions are simple and mostly require leaving out extra chemicals during the home laundering process. Use normal or cotton cycle washing machine settings with warm water or a normal temperature setting (140 degrees Fahrenheit). Store-bought laundry detergent (e.g., Tide® or All®) should be used. Do not use bleach, hydrogen peroxide, or oxygenating agents (e.g., OxyClean®), whether separate or contained within the detergent. Do not use lye-based or homemade soaps. Avoid using fabric softeners. Tumble dry on low or medium heat, avoiding over-drying and pressing with open steam. Do not use starch. If the water is excessively hard, use softening agents (Calgon®) or water softening systems.

The 5.5-ounce fabric is flame-resistant for the life of the garment and self-extinguishing. It is lightweight, breathable, and safe to wear directly against the skin. The tailored cuff features a two-button closure and large arm openings. The shirt also boasts double-needle top stitching, covered chest pockets with a pen holder, and high-temperature buttons, providing flash fire and arc flash protection (NFPA 70E HRC 1, ATPV 6 calories/cm²).
