Precision machinist rulers are essential tools for every woodworker, as they significantly improve the accuracy of their work. Traditionally, the most common graduation markings used by woodworkers have been 4R, or 1/8ths and 1/16ths on one side and 1/32nds and 1/64ths on the reverse. However, the fact is that most woodworkers rarely utilize the finer 1/32nd and 1/64th markings, as they are difficult to read, overly precise for most tasks, and can be quite confusing, with measurements like 51/64th or 19/32nds being challenging to interpret.

To address this, we have developed rulers under our Benchmark Tools brand that feature the most commonly used 1/8th and 1/16th graduation marks on both sides. These rules are crafted from Japanese rust-resistant stainless steel that has been tempered, allowing the ruler to flex if needed and then snap back straight. The edges and ends have been meticulously ground to be parallel, straight, smooth, and square. The graduations are produced using a photoengraving process, ensuring highly consistent and accurate markings with uniform line widths. Once etched, the graduations are white-filled for maximum readability.

Importantly, the graduations are etched and not printed, ensuring they will not wear off with prolonged use. The markings conform to strict international EEC 1 Accuracy Standards, with a tolerance of +/- 0.2mm at 20°C for a 1000mm ruler. The quick-reading 1/8th and 1/16th markings on both sides further enhance the usability of these rulers.

The rulers are finished with a black chrome coating that provides scratch and corrosion resistance, while also maximizing readability through a zero-glare, high-contrast, and easy-to-read finish. This finish enhances the visibility of the markings in both low and bright light conditions.

In terms of specifications, these rules measure 6 inches long, 3/4 inches wide, and 0.040 inches thick. Each rule is supplied in a vinyl storage pouch, ensuring they remain protected and ready for years of reliable service in any workshop.
